Teaching is a passion of mine. It's rewarding to see my students go on to great things and grasp a desire to learn throughout their lives. When I tutor a student, I try to immerse them in a topic by using a number of different approaches in order to grasp the subject.I have been teaching since 2001 at a variety of different levels. I have taught middle school in Ohio and Virginia for more than half of my career in a number of subjects, including reading, writing, and language arts. I am comfortable working with upper elementary students as well, as I am certified to teach language arts and reading for grades 4-9 in the state of Ohio. I have also taught college classes in both traditional and distance learning environments. Among the college classes I have taught are study skills, college writing, reading, and English. Beyond teaching in the classroom, I have tutored students individually in literature, reading, language arts, standardized test prep, enrichment, and writing for remediation.I hold a bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University, as well as a master's degree in English from Youngstown State University. In my free time, I love to read, work with crafts, and exercise.
